The Association of Refugees continues its idea club activity, in order to raise awareness about migration and social cohesion. The guests of previous seminars were Prof. Dr. Ferhat Kentel and Prof. Dr. Murat Erdoğan. The guest of the seminar this week were lawyer Abdulhalim Yılmaz. With his speech “refugees and law“, Yılmaz approached the issue of immigration and social cohesion from a legal perspective. Ferhat Kentel, who had previously talked about how immigration constitutes a place in our individual and social lives and Murat Erdoğan, who shared his fieldwork with us about social adaptation, opened different windows with to participants. The legal content of the lawyer Abdulhalim Yılmaz’s speech on the issue of social cohesion and migration provided the possibility of discussing different concepts related to the issue.
Refugees and Law
In today’s world, where distances are shortened and each part is more integrated into each other, migration is a matter of importance to be emphasized. Undoubtedly, the 21st century, which is regarded as a century of migration, will conceive many new developments. It can be predicted that these developments will enrich the content of “international law” and “human rights law”, especially through migration and refugees. Lawyer Abdulhalim Yilmaz shared very useful information, especially with his speech about human rights law and the legal structure of the refugee field in Turkey. It has made a speech that affects many points, from international agreements that are linked to Turkey and other nations to definitions such as refugee and temporary protection.
Social cohesion and migration seminars carried out in Sultanbeyli will continue to be organised by the Refugee Association.
