Safe and Inclusive Access to Health and Rehabilitation Services in Türkiye Project
Implemented in cooperation with Relief International, the Safe and Inclusive Access to Health and Rehabilitation Services in Türkiye Project aims to improve access to essential health, rehabilitation, and psychosocial support services for refugees and vulnerable members of host communities. The project includes activities aimed at improving the target groups’ mobility, functioning, psychosocial well-being, and independence.

From Youth to Community: Empowering Young People to Strengthen Access to Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights for Vulnerable Groups and Enhance Capacity to Respond to Gender-Based Violence
Implemented with the support of UNFPA, the project aims to strengthen safe and equitable access to sexual and reproductive health and rights (SRHR) for vulnerable individuals from refugee and local communities living in Istanbul, while also improving mechanisms for preventing gender-based violence (GBV) and supporting survivors of violence.
Within the scope of the project, university students will be trained as community-based health mediators, enabling young people to become active actors who facilitate access to information within their communities. Through awareness-raising activities, peer and intergenerational support, safe referral mechanisms, and GBV case management, the project aims to reach individuals who face particular difficulties in accessing services.
Faaliyetler:
- Conducting community-based information, awareness-raising, and peer support activities for young people, women, men, and individuals with different vulnerabilities through health mediators,
- Conducting outreach activities for young people at risk of child, early and forced marriage, refugees facing barriers to accessing services, persons with disabilities, individuals with limited mobility, and socioeconomically vulnerable groups,
- Conducting information and awareness-raising activities for young men from refugee and local communities to support their active participation in the prevention of gender-based violence (GBV),
- Providing safe referral support to relevant services for women who have experienced or are at high risk of gender-based violence (GBV),
- Supporting vulnerable individuals’ access to sexual and reproductive health services and providing them with essential hygiene supplies,
- Sharing the training program and the community-based health mediator model developed within the scope of the project with relevant institutions and supporting the sustainability of the model.

Emergency Preparedness and School Safety
The Emergency Preparedness and School Safety Project, implemented in collaboration with Save the Children Türkiye, aims to strengthen access to safe and inclusive education environments for school-aged children in Sultanbeyli. The project focuses on increasing the disaster and emergency preparedness capacity of institutions, strengthening child protection and safety mechanisms, and implementing activities that include mezzo- and macro-level systems. Within this scope, activities will be carried out in a total of 10 schools in Sultanbeyli, covering 5 schools each year.
Activities:
- Establishment of Safe School Child Clubs and implementation of structured modules on child protection and child safety.
- Organization of group information sessions for children on online safety and child protection.
- Ensuring active child participation in updating risk-based school safety plans, and supporting projects developed by children through the establishment of child advocacy clubs.
- Conducting group awareness sessions for caregivers, teachers, and school administrators.
- Strengthening institutional capacity for rapid emergency response, and preparing and implementing advanced internal emergency action plans.
- Conducting risk analyses in schools regarding all risks related to the safety of children and adults, especially disasters and emergencies, and supporting improvement activities accordingly.

Protection Project Focused on Child Protection, GBV, and Economic Empowerment
Within the scope of the project implemented with the support of UNHCR, protection and empowerment activities are carried out to support refugees who are survivors of gender-based violence, as well as children and families at risk.
Activities:
- Identification of individuals with specific needs and provision of case management processes.
- Provision of counseling services for survivors of gender-based violence, referral to safe shelter services, and support for their empowerment.
- Identification of children at risk and ensuring their follow-up through child protection programs and effective referral mechanisms.
- Supporting individuals’ access to employment opportunities that will enhance their economic empowerment.
- Organizing awareness-raising and information dissemination seminars in all areas to support community engagement and the mainstreaming of community-based protection principles.

Maternal and Infant Health Project
The project aims to raise awareness among families by providing comprehensive training to mothers and expectant mothers on baby care and development. The trainings are reinforced through activities and fieldwork to ensure that the knowledge gained by beneficiaries becomes lasting and practical.

Climate Awareness and Resilience for Emergencies and Sustainability Project
Activities:
- Implementation of community-based information-sharing and advocacy campaigns,

The Painting Workshop Project, implemented in collaboration with The Soho House Foundation, is a social cohesion project aimed at supporting disadvantaged young women, particularly refugee women, in using art as a means of self-expression. The project aims to help women develop their artistic skills, enhance their psychosocial well-being, and build social connections with women from different cultural backgrounds.
Initially planned for 12 months, the project was extended to 15 months based on its positive outcomes. Regular painting workshops, social cohesion activities, and psychosocial empowerment activities were conducted with four different participant groups. At the end of the program, participants’ artworks were presented to art enthusiasts at an exhibition, increasing the visibility of women’s creative efforts and raising awareness of social cohesion through art.

The project aims to strengthen the technical and financial capacity of the Hemdem Women’s Cooperative.

- Conducting market research to enhance the entrepreneurial skills of the Hemdem Cooperative members.

Being a Child in Sultanbeyli Project
The “Being a Child in Sultanbeyli” Project aims to assess the extent to which refugee and local children living in Sultanbeyli have access to their fundamental rights under the Convention on the Rights of the Child, using evidence-based methods and ensuring the participation of all relevant stakeholders. The findings are presented to the public in a report based on data-driven knowledge production.
Following the research, the project aims to identify the needs of children in Sultanbeyli, develop solutions accordingly, and support children’s biopsychosocial and cultural well-being through child-friendly approaches.

Provision of Integrated Social Services for Refugees and the Local Population
The project, which began in 2014 as the Community Center Project with funding from GIZ, is currently implemented in partnership with GIZ and funded by BMZ and ECHO. The project provides services in the areas of protection, social cohesion, non-formal education, and institutional mentoring.

- Contributing to the development of intercultural dialogue between the local community and refugees living in Sultanbeyli by creating opportunities for positive interaction through Community Center activities and social cohesion initiatives,

Post-Disaster Support Project
The earthquake that struck Türkiye on February 6, 2023, with its epicenter in Kahramanmaraş, caused widespread devastation and had a severe impact on many families. Immediately after the earthquake, emergency food and clothing assistance was delivered to the affected region. The Post-Disaster Support Project reflects the community’s spirit of solidarity and support, helping earthquake survivors rebuild their lives.

The STRENGTHS Project
The STRENGTHS Project is funded by the Horizon 2020 European Union program. The project is being carried out in cooperation with Koç University and the Refugees Association. It aims to provide effective community-based health implementation strategies to scale up the delivery and uptake of effective mental health interventions in different country contexts.

In the project which was funded by IDRF and Refugee Girls; educations are given to pre-school students in 5 different stations for their self-development and integration to cultural interactions. Thus integral development of children will be ensured in every area. Also out of class trips and official day programmes are organized with cooperation of social cohesion deparment.
