We came together in the final meeting which was hosted by Kırkayak Kültür in November 2018 for the project of “Supporting the Rights of Syrian Dom Refugees and Other Related Groups Who Took Shelter in Lebanon, Jordan and Turkey”. Implementers of sub-grant programs which are supported in 3 countries and those as well as institutions who are engaged in projects and studies carried out in this field participated the meeting.
Objective of the Project
The objective of this project is to build a social cohesion strategy for Dom and other minority groups living in the Middle East. This strategy aims at creating a document that explains the problems experienced by the groups and presenting long-term, inclusive and sustainable solutions.
Grant Programs
Sub-grant programs were implemented in 3 different countries within the porject supported by the European Union. These countries in which Syrian Dom refugees live are Jordan, Lebanon and Turkey. The Refugees Association became the implementer of the project in Sultanbeyli. Discrimination, social exclusion and living conditions of the group which was interviewed was discussed.
Objective of the Meeting
The aim of this meeting is to identify proper strategies which can be developed for these groups based on the experienced gained by the implementers and institutions working on this field and to create a strategic action plan.
It was emphasized that the local and international institutions should take more responsibility to raise awareness.
Wish and Thanking
We wish that the output of this project, which we are really glad to being a part of it as a Refugees Association, contribute to the improvement of the living conditions of Dom and other minority groups.
We would like to thank for the support and cooperation of the Kırkayak Kültür.
