As the Social Cohesion Unit of the Refugees Association, we aim to increase the mutual communication between immigrant and local children, to accumulate common memories, and to increase the sharing between them. We are also trying to support this goal with sports activities.
As of November, we started the first of our sports activities by organizing a swimming workshop. The swimming workshop continued for 9 weeks with a group of middle school girls and a group of elementary school boys accompanied by coaches in an indoor swimming hall.
During the workshop, students learned techniques such as swimming beginner activities, freestyle swimming style, breaststroke swimming style, backstroke swimming style, and made their way through the beginner swimming levels. In addition to the improvement they showed in the swimming workshop, it was observed that group dynamics were formed between immigrant students and students living locally, and positive developments were observed in terms of cooperation and supporting each other.
