Empowering Disadvantaged Ethnic Groups Project

We have started to work on Empowering Disadvantaged Ethnic Refugee Groups in Sultanbeyli with Social Cohesion Project. With the project supported both by the European Union and Kırkayak Kültür, our aim is to determine the suitable strategies for identifying and solving the problems of disadvantaged refugee groups with different ethnic identities. Field interviews will be carried out for a strong evaluation within the scope of the project that will last for four months.

Third Breakfast Meeting
Within the scope of the project, we came together with the participants in a breakfast meeting during which they were able to express themselves actively. The focus of our meeting held in August was on the difficulties the participants have had in Turkey and on what can be done to help. Participants mentioned  the difficulties they have in achieving their basic life needs and the hate speech and the intolerance against them. We continue to work on how to develop a strategy in order that all problems are to be avoided.

Our Goals For Social Cohesion
In addition the three breakfast meeting and three focus group interviews, three activities will be organized during the project. One of our objectives is to have focus group interviews where the participants are invited and suggestions are offered and discussed. Besides, we are planning to make a workshop on October 2, 2018. In this workshop program, we aim to contribute to the development of strategies for social cohesion of disadvantaged groups, ethnic groups, Syrian refugees, Gipsies, Dom communities, Wandering Dervish by coming together with the related associations, non-governmental organizations, individuals and local authorities who perform study on this issue.
