In the 57th edition of the UN General Assembly in 1981, the third day of every September was declared the International Day of Peace. Former Secretary-General of the United Nations Ban Ki-moon said last year that Peace is not an accident. Peace is not a gift. Peace is something that we all need to work for every day in the world.
Children Drew Peace
Every September 21st, the Peace Bell that says “Long live, Peace!” is played at the UN headquarters. This bell, built by Japan in memory of the deaths of the wars, was made with coins donated by children from all continents of the world. Considering the importance of peace for children, we have performed a peace-themed event with children from the Refugee Society children’s friendly area.
After the conversation with the children who came together, what peace meant for them, they made pictures on peace in the free workshop.
As the refugees ‘Association, we continue to work at the local level for a world where children are happier, in a safe and peaceful environment. Happy World Peace Day!
